My Story
I believe with all my heart that every mother, parent and child is worthy of compassionate, gentle and respectful support. No one should have to rely on "luck" to get the care and attention they deserve after the birth of a baby.
I’ve been where you are…
My husband and I eagerly awaited our first baby’s arrival by reading all the books and paying close attention during our prenatal classes. We were both feeling pretty confident that welcoming our little one into our family was going to be an easy and natural transition.
Once our baby was in my arms
it didn't take long for a new realty to set in.
I remember wanting desperately to breastfeed my sweet baby boy but having no idea how to get his little mouth to open. The videos we watched in prenatal class made it look so easy!
After getting conflicting advice from well-meaning family, friends and even health care providers, I was left feeling exhausted, confused and overwhelmed.
Thankfully, we ended up getting the help we needed from a private Lactation Consultant after 10 in-home visits. I am so grateful for the personal touch she provided us during such an intense time.
Her personalized support set us up for success with feeding but we were still left on our own for everything else, including how to navigate sleep as a family of three.
I was desperate to grow into my role as a mother and learn to trust my intuition but I couldn’t help second guess myself at every turn.
I tried everything to get the sleep we needed and was often stumbling between co-sleeping and some version of sleep training that left all of us in tears.
We went on to have 3 more children and I began to realize that the support I experienced with my firstborn was commonplace. It was simply the norm that we’ve all come to expect after having a baby.
I had simply “lucked out” when we found someone who could help us with breastfeeding. A passion was sparked within me after experiencing the gap of support our culture has when it comes to taking care of postpartum families.
I made the decision to become a certified Paediatric Sleep Consultant in 2013 because I knew that families deserved better. There simply wasn’t enough support that honoured both rest and relationship.
Sleep felt like the tipping point, where exhaustion met uncertainty, and I wanted to offer practical, caring solutions.
As I worked with more and more families, I realized that cookie-cutter sleep plans weren’t enough — my families deserved to feel seen, supported, and empowered. I needed to learn a way to offer grounded, responsive support that actually helps while staying aligned with my values.
I transitioned into postpartum doula work and immersed myself in learning everything I could about infant feeding and respectful, connection-based parenting. Along the way, I became a certified Circle of Security Parent Facilitator, completed the RIE® Foundations course, and embraced the core principles of Conscious Parenting.
I’m honoured to support families through one of the most tender and transformative seasons of life—postpartum.
